Anyone familiar with the insulin pressure injector?
It is supposedly a way of injecting insulin without needles. I would like more info from people who use one or know about them.
My son has CF related diabetes and takes one injection of 24 hour insulin per day. This is adequate for now but as the disease progresses he will more than likely require the fast acting insulin with meals. If this happens we will more than likely go to the pump instead of cartridges with syringe/needles but I had heard about this pressure injector and am specifically wondering about it. How it works, if it works well, if it is painless and such.
These are somewhat older, however the way they work is by air pressure. instead of a needle the air forces the insulin through your skin. When these came out my Diabetes educator tried them and hel it at a full arms distance from her hand to see the pressure, she fired it and said that it almost broke her hand. I saw her hand afterwards and it had been a few days but was still really bruised. That is the biggest downside i have heard about it.
They still hurt as much if not more than an actual shot. Im on the pump and would recommend it over the pressure injectors.
