An eclipse? A miracle of precision? Or am I just missing something. In the sky, the moon and sun appear to be?
Question Details:the same perceptual size. The Moon is very small (2160 miles diameter). The Sun is very large (870000 miles diameter). In the sky they appear to be the same size!
Why?
Also, if an eclipse is possible, the Earth's shadow is the same perceptual size as the moon's perceptual size and the Sun's perceptual size.
Why?
It seems if the Earth was 10% larger, or 10% smaller this wouldn't happen. Same thing with the Moon's size and the Sun's size...
Not just sizes come in to play, since it's perceptual size, the distance is a factor too.
It seems to me the distance and size of the Earth, Sun and Moon have some sort of interplay going on, and it all boils down to a visual perception from the Earth's planet?
What's the deal? Am I mistaken? Answers would be appreciated. Religious or scientific. I just want some answers.

i thought the eclipse yesterday was total for 50 odd minutes... so the 2nd paragraph is a bit off
i dont know how 'exact' the other matches are, quantitatively, it's obviously close, but how close would be interesting. if it's to within say 1 in 10^9 or so maybe you could go straight on the god train
other than that...
