How to find studs to mount tv over wall mirror?
Above the mantle of a gas fireplace I have a wall mirror dimensions 10' high by 6.5' wide. I can't get readings with stud finder, I don't know what's behind mirror(drywall or studs), or how the mirror is attached. I'm not interested in removing the mirror. I'd like to drill through mirror and attach tv mount to studs. Any suggestions?
the tv bracket needs to be solidly fixed to studs if you manage to drill hole without breaking mirror (unlikely) and find wood 1st time (unlikely again) the mirror will break when you tighten bracket to wall. If you cannot find fixings for mirror (ask glazier to check) most likely glued to wall and you'll break it removing it and remove half the drywall so you'll see where the studs are. Be careful (10' X 6' ) that's big bits of mirror falling to the floor wish you lots and lots of luck.....you'll need it at least 7 years bad luck coming your way!
