A good DSLR?
I have some knowledge of photography and I have shot with an SLR(Nikon N75), but I now want to get a DSLR and need help picking one.
I've looked at the Nikon D50; can anyone suggest anything else, like Olympus, Leica or Pentax? I've heard a lot about Canon and Nikon.
Also, no 1,000 cameras please! I could afford it, but I'd rather save for lenses.
I have been using the D80 for nearly a year, every day. It's a very good camera. It's basically the same as the D200 but it costs less than a thousand. It's vastly improved over the D50. The D50 was an entry level camera and the D80 is Nikon's intermediate level camera. I write & photo for a magazine and sell my photos. You are very smart to want to put your money on lenses instead of cameras. Cameras come & go, lenses you keep. There are far more lenses available for Nikon than there are Olympus or Pentax. As for Leica, you have to be kidding. The only camera body they have that takes different lenses is the M8. It's nearly $5,000. The Nikon has the most complete system for the money you want to spend.
