Anyone had surgery for Nasal inverted pappiloma/ or polyps?
After a few visits to my doc for nose bleeds and a sinus infection that wouldn't go away I was refered to an ENT. Long story short:
I either have nasal polyps or a inverted pappilloma. She told me I needed surgery and sent me for a CT scan. I looked at the films and my entire right side is blocked with something. I know its hard to tell what it is with a CT scan but assuming its not just mucus it looks like my surgery is going to suck far worse than I had hoped.
If I stick my finger up my nose (which I don't do, but I did do because it felt like there was something there) I can feel it.
I really don't have much pain, just a lot of blood, thick mucus and sometimes tissue that comes out constantly! But I can't breathe out of my right nostril.
I'm terrified of surgery...and I can't find any info on it. Has anyone had it, or know anyone who has? What can I expect?
How bad is the pain?
i had nasal polyp removal and of course its not pleasant, but you'll get over it and realize how much better life is when you can breath. and they'll give you pain medicine of course to ease the pain. i remember having a headache for a few days and sleeping alot cause of the pain medicine.
i think the worst part was waking up after surgery. they give you something to dry out your sinuses during the surgery and when you wake up, your throat is ridiculously dry and you can't drink at that time just ice chips. and to keep your eyes from drying out they coat them with something that makes your vision blurry for a lil while after you wake up.
Overall though it was worth it for sure and remember that when your body is going through stressful times (like pain) your body will release endorphins to make it bearable. anticipation is always worse than the actual event.
good luck.
