7 Marbles Puzzle: One of them weights different, how do you figure it out with a balance scale?
You have 8 marbles, 7 of them weigh the same and one of them weighs different. You also have a balance scale. Within 2 weighings, how do you figure out which one is the weird one and whether it is heavier or lighter than one of the other 7?
First: Weigh 6 of them. Three in each pan. If they don't weigh the same, take the three that were lighter and out of them weigh two of them. If the one of them you are weighing is lighter -then youve got the one. Else the one you have not weighed is the lightest.
If in your first try you find that 6 weigh the same, you have two remaining, which you can weigh and find out the lightest one.
